Does anyone ever really tire of seeing how celebrities get red carpet ready? I know I don’t but I am also a makeup junkie as you all know. As in the case of Katherine Heigl seen here wearing her royal blue smoky eyes with such great confidence. Is this look too much? I think not. That is the beauty behind creating a gorgeous smoky eye, it doesn’t always have to be done in black. Blues, pastels, purples, bronze and earth tones all do the job quite nicely.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot on Saturday at a remote wilderness resort outside of Vancouver. The usual suspects were there like Scarlett’s mom Melanie and brother Adrian. FASHION WEEK NYC 2009

Wow, what an amazing start to what looks to be a fabulous spring for fashion and beauty. Fashion week kicked off last Friday in NYC and the shows have been unbelievable. The city is buzzing with celebrities and super models and the mood is inspiring.

One of my favorite designers showed her spring collection to rave reviews and the clothes were just beautiful. Diane von Furstenberg has always been about prints, and her spring-summer 2009 collection did not disappoint.

A Kaleidoscope of butterflies, florals, hummingbirds and more printed on flowing silks and woven into knit. Ms. Furstenberg is the master of putting together combinations that would look odd for anyone else, but she has a knowledge that extends far beyond this and the result is just outstanding. Pictured here with a few of the models and each looking just gorgeous.

The make-up created for the show was also on point with Gucci Westman heading up the team. Gucci, a seasoned pro new exactly how to design a look that would compliment the clothing. Her 60’s inspired smoky eyes and pale pink lips were just the right touch for this retro look.

So happy to see that smoky eyes are strong for the fall season, and so far the spring/summer shows say they will continue to be. We just never get tired of seeing them. So many variations, so many ways to create a smoky eye.

Hollywood was a-buzzing Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards. Held on the Paramount lot to accommodate everyone attending. Our little beauty spy’s were working the event and said it was lots of fun. Lots of celebrities looking beautiful, many wearing beth bender beauty, and ready for a good time!

Celebrity makeup artist beth bender of beth bender beauty, Los Angeles calls Sophia's smoky eyes a "more modern approach for summer. Still extremely sexy but created with metallic shadows". "It's a fresh change from the heavier eye that we saw throughout most of the fall and winter" says bender.

To get the look beth suggests trying a palette in bronze and gold tones. The newest palettes for spring and summer like SGB are perfect for creating a gorgeous summer smoky eye. Contour the crease of eye with the darkest bronze shade and blend with the two lighter shades for the perfect application. Not sure about the smoky eyes, no worries each kit comes with a set of stencils that do the work for you. So easy to use, you'll be a pro in no time.

Remember to blend the colors especially in the crease. For some extra pow, line under the eyes using the deep bronze shimmer and smudge with your fingers or brush for a sexy, sultry look. If you're a gal that likes to line her eyes with a contrasting color use a gel eyeliner in either dark brown or rich black and line along your lashes as close to the lash line as possible. Before it dries smudge slightly with a Q-tip to soften the line. Try Onyx or Cocoa Stay Put Gel Liner.

To finish the look add two coats of Dior Show Mascara in Black and keep the lips sheer with a touch of color in Firefly, a sheer mauve-nude.

We start this week off with a big hand of applause to some of our very favorite beauty blog sites. Over the next week we will share with you our top ten blog sites for beauty, fashion and great style. When we first began blogging more than a year ago a few of these were what got us hooked and continue to inspire us everyday.

Starting with Christina from ebeautydaily also the Channel Editor for the Beauty & Style Channel so you can imagine how busy she is, and a mother of three too! We just adore her and ebeautydaily.
Each product review is filled with great info and an extra dose of Texas charm and style! Once you start reading them I promise you won't be able to stop. So make sure and subscribe to catch up on the latest in beauty and everything else in between.

Also another favorite is beautifulmakeupsearch, Teri Cosenzi heads up this fabulous site which includes news on the latest beauty products, as well as fashion week and celebrity style. She features the latest and newest products to hit the beauty industry. Her site is just fabulous and her product reviews are so good that you too will want to try every product and beauty "must haves".

Teri also writes another fantastic blog called CelebLOOK which give you tips on how to create some of the hottest celebrity beauty seen in all of the fashion and style magazines.

One of our newest beauty blogs to make it on our top ten list is Temptalia. If you haven't yet checked this one out we highly recommend it. It is filled with tons of beauty info and some fantastic photo's of Christine who is the founder of Temptalia demonstrating some gorgeous eyes in lots of different shades.

The pictures will definitely inspire you to do up your eyes and have a little fun at the same time. Christine is barely out of college and you will be blown away by how awesome this site is.

Totalbeauty which launched back in early 2008 is a fabulous site for beauty, product reviews, video demo's on how to's, and great sample give aways for its members. Many of the beauty bloggers mentioned are also contributing editors at Totalbeauty so you can imagine how great the website is. It is filled with great reads and expert advice from some of the beauty worlds biggest pro's.

And yet another fav Beautyaddict which has been on everyone's beauty radar for quite some time now. Kristin Kelly, the beauty addict calls herself a little obsessed with make up, and who can blame her. If you're a make up junkie like myself, one can never have enough beauty products. This is a great site and one that should definitely be bookmarked under "best beauty blogs".

To get Charlize’s look start by applying a sheer foundation, or tinted moisturizer to the face. Use a sponge for more coverage and a brush for a softer application. The newest gem which I have been loving is their posie tint. A pink petal lip and cheek stain that is just bang on with the perfect pink color. A lighter version of their cult-fav benetint. I used on a shoot last week and barely needed anything else. The models looked beautiful and the color didn't move. Sexy Smoky Eyes In Your 40’s

Sex and the City Premiere in NYC

The other day a friend and fellow beauty blogger asked me for a few tips on wearing a smoky eye in your 40’s. I’m in my 40’s and still love a smoky eye although I usually go for a softer version and not the traditional dark and smoky. I absolutely love the look but going for a light gunmetal, lavender or a bronze tone is much sexier as we get a little older and still captures the very essence of a smoky eye.

As in the case of SATC, the show and movie. Funny enough right after I shared my tips I found myself at the movies watching the much anticipated flick and noticed immediately that I was not alone. All of the gals with the exception of Kristin Davis could be seen throughout most of the movie sporting a smoky eye.

The colors were soft but beautiful and all of the make up artists were on point with there color choices. Kim Cattrall had her personal make up artist Kyra Panchenko to give her sexy smoky eyes and cat eyes that could not be missed. She never went too dark but her smoky eyes were gorgeous. Kristin Davis had Nuria Sitja, who created her looks and Make up Department Head Marjorie Durand took care of Sara and Cynthia whose eyes were outstanding. Gold and Amber tones on Sara Jessica made her green eyes even more striking.

All of these women are in their 40’s and let me just tell you their make up was smokin’. Not to mention the fabulous clothing and accessories thanks to the brilliant Pat Fields. So in answer to anyone wondering whether a sexy smoky eye is appropriate for women in the 40’s? I say you better believe it baby!

Eyeshadow & Eyeliner Stencils That Work

The other day I was surfing the net and found a video showing how you can take apart a plastic insert from packaging and turn it into an eyeliner stencil. Well I of course had to watch because based on the type of plastic that was being used I knew this would not be an easy task and it wasn’t.

First of all let me start by saying that I have been doing make-up for years and I have never seen a make-up artist use anything of the sort. Credit cards yes, but never this. Not to mention that the type of plastic he was using was not flexible and very sharp when placed anywhere near the eye.

So you might be saving money but who wants to risk poking yourself in the eye or cutting yourself just to have a sexy cat eye or smoky eye? That isn’t a look I ever want to see. Make-up artists do use eyeliner stencils when they need to, and when they do they use our eyeliner stencils. There are a few who have tried their best to duplicate ours but nothing works as well as the Get in Line Eyeliner Stencils.

Sometimes we get caught up in our crazy lives, our families, work and forget that things are not always so easy for others elsewhere, as in the case of this horrible disaster in China. The earth quake that hit China’s Sichuan Province on May 12th destroyed thousands of buildings in the area, as well as infrastructure like communication networks and electrical towers.

Thousands of people died and many are still missing, some of them little children, and more than 270,000 were injured. The earthquake left an estimated five million people homeless. Many schools were destroyed, including one that had at least 900 students in it. This earthquake is the worst natural disaster to hit China in 30 years.

To help out with the relief fund and get China back on its feet beth bender beauty is donating 15% of all sales to the American Red Cross for the next two months. That means that every time you purchase any beth bender beauty products between now and July 30th we will give the American Red Cross 15% of your sale. Every once in a while I come across a skin care line that is outstanding and when I do I always share. I have always been a girl who takes good care of her skin but as gravity begins to make it’s adjustments, its not enough to just moisturize your face, you need a skin care line that can target specific area’s such as sun damage, fine lines, and elasticity just to name a few.
