CELEBRITY BEAUTY 101-SMOKY EYES

Does anyone ever really tire of seeing how celebrities get red carpet ready? I know I don’t but I am also a makeup junkie as you all know. As in the case of Katherine Heigl seen here wearing her royal blue smoky eyes with such great confidence. Is this look too much? I think not. That is the beauty behind creating a gorgeous smoky eye, it doesn’t always have to be done in black. Blues, pastels, purples, bronze and earth tones all do the job quite nicely.

When you choose a brighter hue, consider a more subtle smoky eye as seen here on Katherine. Less is more and your peepers will think so too! Make sure to apply the color along the upper and lower lashline and blend into the crease using a sweeping motion with your brush.

INSIDER TRICK: When using loose shimmer shadows to create this look make sure to tap off your brush before applying the color. This will ensure that you don’t add too much and allow you to build the color.

For anyone wishing to go the extra beauty mile, you can add a few individual lashes on the ends of each eye and finish with two generous coats of rich black mascara.

You are red carpet ready baby!

Summer Beauty On the Red Carpet

As pretty as a picture, the four starlets seen here at the NYC Premiere for The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2

Last night at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City the stars of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 took to the red carpet for the movie’s premiere. Stars Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrara and Blake Lively were all smiles as they posed for pictures. Blake was looking especially sexy in a low cut orange dress and gorgeous bronzed shimmer smoky eyes and skin.

To get the look beth suggests using a palette in bronze and gold tones. The newest palettes for spring and summer like SGB are perfect for creating a gorgeous summer smoky eye as seen here on Blake. Contour the crease of eye with the darkest bronze shade and blend with the two lighter shades for the perfect application. Not sure about the smoky eyes, no worries each kit comes with a set of stencils that do the work for you. So easy to use, you’ll be a pro in no time.

Finish with the perfect coral shimmer blush. A mosaic of hues like beth bender beauty’s Powder Blush in Glow or Bronzer in Just Peachy both $24, each create a natural-looking effect. A huge fav’ amongst Hollywood’s hottest fashionistas.

Red Carpet Beauty Oscar Finale

Red Carpet Beauty – The Oscars 2008

Cameron Diaz gives us a gorgeous glow

Our little surfer girl looked beautiful on Oscar night with a pale pink gown and make up that was radiant throughout the evening. Her sun kissed glow, bronzed goddess like eyelids and pale pink lips were the perfect compliment to her swept back do.

To get Cameron’s sexy look start with a tinted moisturizer first and apply with a brush for a more sheer application. We like Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer, it goes on sheer and gives the skin a healthy glow.

Next apply a Bronzing Powder in a peachy gold tone. Try Just Peachy from beth bender beauty. Using a bronzer brush apply to the cheeks, a touch on the forehead and bridge of nose to add warmth to the entire face.

Create your sultry smoky eyes in golden and bronze tones blending two colors together before applying to the eye. Try Ambra Eye Dust and Ginger Eye Dust both from beth bender. These colors can be used with your fingers by patting the color directly onto your eyelid or with an eyeshadow brush. When applied with a slightly dampened brush the color lasts even longer and is very vibrant. Sweep the same colors underneath the eye too.

Apply a touch of eyeliner at the outer corners of each eye and underneath as seen here on Cameron. Keep the liner on the thinner and softer side. Use a gel eyeliner to prevent the line from smudging. Try Stay Put Gel Liner in Onyx.

With such beautiful eyes, leave the lips pale and shimmery. Pale pink lips were everywhere the night of the Oscars and we here that Paris is Burning was keeping many pouts perfect on the red carpet and backstage as well. You can find this pink nude shimmer and lots of other pretty pink glosses at beth bender beauty.

Penelope Cruz does sexy cat eyes

We are so late in getting the rest of our favorite red carpet beauties up on our blog but here they are. We hope you enjoy!

We just adore Penelope Cruz. She has great style and you can always count on her to be sporting gorgeous eyes, smoky eye or cat eye, she loves them both. At the Oscars she didn’t disappoint, her make up looked fresh and her skin was radiant. The focus was on her eyes which were tightly lined using a black gel eyeliner and then set using a Violet eyeshadow and pale lavender shadow to highlight the eyelids.

To get Penelope’s sexy eyes start with a rich black gel liner, try Onyx from beth bender and using a tapered brush apply along the lashline making sure to extend the line beyond the lashes and increasing the thickness of liner as you get closer to the outer eye.

Repeat the same underneath the lower lashline starting with a thicker line at the outer eye and tapering the line as you get closer to the inner eye. If you prefer not to line the entire eye as Penelope has done, you can blend the liner and stop slightly beyond the center of eye on the top and bottom.

Once you have finished applying the gel liner, using an eyeshadow brush take your Violet eyeshadow, Try Lilly Eyedust and sweep lightly over the liner and blend onto eyelid as seen here on Penelope. Take the same color and sweep under the eye as well. This will soften the liner and give the eyes a very sultry look. For eye popping peeper’s take a pale lavender shimmer, try Twinkle Twinkle and apply to the inner corner of eyes and blend into crease.

Finish with two coats of rich black mascara focusing on the outer lashes and make sure to hit the bottom lashes too. Try Lashblast Mascara in Black from CoverGirl available at most drugstores, Target, CVS and Walmart.
Perfect eyes deserve perfect brows so make sure yours are groomed and red carpet ready. If you need some help with your brows check out Anastasia’s Eyebrow stencils for creating perfect brows. Marion Cotillard strikes a pose

This was one of my favorite looks for hair, make up and wardrobe. Marion looked absolutely stunning in this Jean Paul Gaultier gown. She stood out amongst many of the starlets that night with her gorgeous cat eyes and cascades of sexy loose curls that framed her beautiful face.

To get Marion’s cat eyes start by adding some color to the eyelids first using a silver shimmer shadow. Try Vincent Longo’s Eye Shimmer Souffle in Pavlova, $24 at vincentlongo.com. It’s crease free and stays true for hours, perfect for red carpet beauty. For perfect cat eyes that will have everyone purring, try the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit from beth bender beauty. Each kit comes with a cat eye stencil and a smoky eye stencil. Follow the instructions included and create sexy cat eyes as seen here on Marion.

Give your lashes two coats of mascara focusing on the outer lashes and making sure to coat the top of lashes too for extra length and volume. Try LashBlast mascara in black from CoverGirl.
Give the cheeks a touch of color in a light berry hue and apply with a brush swirling the color around the apple of cheeks before blending up and into the hairline. Try Daisy powder blush, $26 from beth bender beauty.

Complete the look with a berry-red lip color. Try Vincent Longo’s Velvet Riche lip color in Rain Dance, $23 at vincentlongo.com. For fuller looking lips apply a lip pencil first and blend the liner into the lips. add a touch of gloss to the center of lips for extra pout appeal.

Heidi Klum sparkles on Oscar night!

Heidi Klum’s stunning red carpet look was made even more beautiful with her bold smoky eyes and bronzed cheeks. We loved the silver shimmer shadow on her eyes that lit up her face and made her one of our favorite red carpet beauties.

To get Heidi’s look start with a shimmer shadow in silver and apply to the eyelid and into the crease making sure to blend the color into the inner corners of each eye as seen here. Take the same silver shimmer shadow and sweep under the eyes before adding your black eyeliner. Try NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Paris. Use the silver shimmer on the eyelid and contour the crease of eye with the matte gray shadow as seen here on Heidi.

Finish with a black gel liner and begin applying right above the inner corner of top eyelid extending the liner out beyond the lashes. For the best results use a thin and tapered eyeliner brush and tap along the lashline. Try Onyx Stay put Gel Eyeliner, $18 at bethbenderbeauty.com. Bring the gel eyeliner underneath each eye at the outer corners and blend into the lashline.

Finish with a fabulous black Mascara and some false eyelash clusters to complete Heidi’s dazzling eyes. Apply one coat of mascara before adding the lashes to create a platform that will make them easier to slide in. Try Diorshow Mascara in Black, $24 at Sephora and sephora.com. Try Ardell Lash Clusters for sexy peeper’s that will have heads spinning. Available at most drugstores and beauty supply stores.

Give your cheeks a beautiful bronzed glow with Soak up the Sun Bronzing Powder, $26 at beth bender beauty. A favorite backstage at the Oscar’s this year. Swirl the color on the apple of cheeks with a powder brush and blend along the cheekbones for a flawless application. To finish add a touch of bronzer to the bridge of nose and forehead.

Finish with a pale pink shimmer lipstick, or lip gloss to compliment your beautiful smoky eyes. Try Paris is Burning from beth bender beauty, a pink beige shimmer gloss or Laura Mercier’s Pink Dawn Lip Shimmer , a light nude pink $22 at Lauramercier.com.

You’re red carpet ready gorgeous!
