Celebrity makeup artist beth bender of beth bender beauty, Los Angeles calls Sophia's smoky eyes a "more modern approach for summer. Still extremely sexy but created with metallic shadows". "It's a fresh change from the heavier eye that we saw throughout most of the fall and winter" says bender.

To get the look beth suggests trying a palette in bronze and gold tones. The newest palettes for spring and summer like SGB are perfect for creating a gorgeous summer smoky eye. Contour the crease of eye with the darkest bronze shade and blend with the two lighter shades for the perfect application. When Smoky Eyes Aren’t Smoky

To avoid this look make sure to only apply eyeshadow onto the eyelid and blend into the crease of eye so that the color is slightly above the crease. Do not apply a dark color into the corner of eye and high above the crease as seen here on Sharon Stone. Instead use a lighter shade and blend with the darker color for a more polished look.

Avoid heavy thick eyeliner around the entire eye. Instead line the eyes so that the outer part of the eye is thickest and becomes more tapered as you get closer to the inner corner of eye, as seen here below on Hilary Duff.

If you’re using a Gel eyeliner or pencil to line the eyes you can set the color with an eyeshadow of the same color or a lighter shade. The last time I saw lashes like that was on my four year old nephew. Just remember to blend, blend, blend in the crease of your eyes and use a lighter color in the corner like they have here and blend up into the center of eye. Highlight the brow bone with the same light shade or a shimmer. To get a perfect line underneath use the smoky eye stencil and place under your eye along your lash line. With your eye shadow brush sweep a bit of color along the stencil and remove. To soften go over with eye shadow brush.

Repeat on the other eye and do the same for your top eye liner. Add a little concealer, set with a powder and finish with lots of mascara.
