HOT BEAUTY TRENDS FOR SPRING

OLIVIA WILDE GIVES US BEAUTIFUL EYES FOR SPRING

SPRING IS IN THE AIR and to prove it check out Olivia Wilde's gorgeous eyes in shades of plums and Lavenders. What a refreshing alternative to the dark smoky eyes we have been seeing so much of. Get Olivia's look by mixing a Lavender and deep Plum shimmer shadow together and then applying to the eyelid and up into the crease of eye as seen here. Try Eye Dusts in Lilly and All About Me, $16 and both from beth bender beauty. Line the eyes with a smudge proof gel eyeliner in black, try Onyx Stay Put Gel Liner, $18 at beth bender beauty. Make sure to taper the liner as you get closer to the center of eye and keep it thicker at the ends as seen here on Olivia.

GET gorgeous brows like Olivia's with Anastasia's eyebrow stencils, Eyebrow tools and powders. Choose from a number of kits or just the stencils. They are so easy to use and really give you the best eyebrows.

FINISH the look with a bit of tinted moisturizer to even out the complexion before giving your cheeks a pop of blush with Desert Rose Powder Blush, $20 at bobbibrown.com. Try Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer, $42 at lauramercier.com. It gives your skin a healthy glow and deposits just the right amount of color without looking heavy.

PUCKER UP with Creamy Lip Color in Crystal Pink, $22 at bobbibrown.com and for extra, extra shine add a layer of Crush Liquid Lip Glaze, $16 at bethbenderbeauty.com.

Celebrity Look Of The Week

Rachel Bilson

Beth Bender Beauty’s Look of The Week

rachel-bilson-get-the-look.jpg

Our celebrity look of the week is Rachel Bilson. Rachel’s perfectly lined eyes have become a part of her trademark look. Her features are petite and so striking. She has great style and her makeup always looks beautiful.

For defined eyes like Rachel’s start by lining them top and bottom with an eyeliner pencil first. A good one to try is Prescriptives Softening Pencil in Black. With a smudge tip brush blend the color into the lash line. Set the color with a powder shadow to prevent the color from bleeding and soften the line.

To get the powder liner perfect on both top and bottom try the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit. Place the bottom liner stencil underneath the eye and make the line as thick or as thin as you like depending on where you place it. Repeat the same on top with the top eyeliner stencil. Give your lashes at least one coat of your favorite black mascara and make sure to coat both the top and underneath of your lashes. It really makes a difference. Try Lashblast Mascara, $7.99 from CoverGirl.

Rachel’s rosy pink blush give her skin a lovely radiance. To get this look using a blush brush swirl the color on the apple of your cheeks and blend along the cheekbone. We love Bobbi Brown’s powder blush in Blushed, $20 at Bobbibrown.com. If you’re a cream blush kind of girl then try Blushing Bride, a rosy pink cream blush, $18 at beth bender beauty.

Rachel’s lip’s have a slight sheen but the look is more of a stain which could pass for her own natural lip color. Try Shy Pink Lip Stain, $20 from Laura Mercier. We love the feel of these lip stains and they look beautiful on. If you want to add a layer of shine on top of the stain try Crush Liquid Lip Color, $16 from beth bender beauty. Either way you can’t go wrong.

Beth Bender's Beauty Report -Fashion Week

FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK

Tory Burch fall 2008 Collection

The make up for Tory Burch was beautiful and matched well with the clothes which were structured and very defined. Bobbi Brown and her team of artists did a beautiful job. Prominent cheekbones could be seen on every model and gorgeous eyes that put the smoke in smoky.

Insider Trick: To create the illusion of prominent cheekbones Bobbi swirled a mauve blush onto the apples of cheeks and then patted a lip balm high up on the cheekbones to catch the light. For those who prefer something a little less sticky try a cream shimmer and apply to the same part of cheekbones.

Bobbi's artist's did a great job creating beautiful smoky eyes on each model. To do it yourself and have gorgeous eyes just like them try the Get in Line Eyeliner kit from Beth Bender.

CELEBRITY BEAUTY - THE SAG AWARDS

BEAUTY WATCH – THE SAG AWARDS

GREY’S ANATOMY ELLEN POMPEO

Also on the red carpet strutting her stuff was Ellen Pompeo looking absolutely stunning in a Nina Ricci Gown. Her makeup and hair complimented this strapless gown and as always her brows looked perfect. Ellen’s eyes were smoky but done in champagne and amber tones which gave them a much more sultry look.

To get Ellen’s look start by grooming your brows first and then working you way down and finishing with the lips. I love Anastasia’s eyebrow stencils and stencil kit. They are so easy to use and come with step by step directions so you can’t go wrong.

Once you have decided on the perfect template that suits you brow shape fill in with a brow color and remove any hairs that fall outside of the shape. If you prefer a stronger brow you can add more color with the stencil still over the eyebrow.

Next we move to the eyes. Choose something with a shimmer as seen here on Ellen. I mixed two colors using Ambra Eye Dust and a bit of Ginger. I like to use my fingers first to apply color to the eyelid and then go back and blend with an eyeshadow brush. Especially if the lid is slightly shiny the color grabs and helps with placement. If you have questions about where to place the color you can use the Get in Line Smoky Eye Kit to help with this. Using a tapered eyeliner brush sweep some Ambra Eye Dust under the eye as seen here on Ellen.

To ensure that your eyeliner will stay put I suggest using a Gel Eyeliner instead of a liquid or powder. They are water and smudge resistant and once they dry they don’t move. Try Onyx Gel Liner, $18 from beth bender beauty. Make sure to get as close to the lash line a possible when applying the gel liner. You can tap some color in between your bottom lashes too but keep it on the softer side.

For fabulous red carpet lashes all night long try Shu Uemura’s Basic Black Mascara, $27 at sephora.com It’s a gel base formula that keeps the lashes from smudging and can be re-applied without clumping.

For the face I like Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Sticks, $40 at bobbibrown.com. They’re perfect for evening out the complexion without feeling too heavy. Plus you decide how much and where. I don’t recommend them for someone whose skin is extremely oily, instead an oil free liquid foundation would work best.

On the cheeks try try Cheek Duo in Pink Glow, $24 from Stila. It adds a delicate flush as seen here on Ellen. Finish with a sheer coral or warm peach lip shade that will balance your beautiful smoky eyes. Try Olympia Rose a nude-peach lip color, $26 from Vincent Longo. I used this color on a shoot last week and fell in love with it!!

Stay tuned for more celebrity looks from the SAG Awards and fashion week in NYC. The hottest runway looks and how to get them.

Give Me Smoky Eyes Like Lindsay Lohan

lindsay-lohan-eyes.jpg

We are well into the new year and smoky eyes are still ruling the red carpet. The color palettes are softer but the smoky eye is still hot. Lindsay Lohan is a big fan of the smoky eye and her green eyes look even greener in this photo.

Want to get sexy smoky eyes like Lindsay? Try using a dark grey shadow mixed with a touch of charcoal shimmer shadow. Line underneath with the charcoal shimmer and finish by lining the inside rim with a black pencil. Adding a few individual lash clusters to the ends of each eye as seen here on Lindsay will make the eyes pop even more.

For perfect smoky eyes every time use the Get in Line Stencil Kit from beth bender beauty and check out the list of celebs already using the kit. Try Slate eye shadow from Bobbi Brown and Bellatrix Eye Dust from beth bender beauty to create the look.
