Rachel McAdams Red Carpet Smoky Eyes

Rachel McAdams blazed the red carpet this week with shimmer-rimmed eyes topped by loads of matte charcoal smoky shadow. Her eyes purred with perfection and she got a big thumbs up from us for a super gorgeous smoky-cat eye.

Beth says it’s all about where you place the color that will give you the look you desire. She suggests mixing a dark chocolate and charcoal eyeshadow together and applying from the outer corner of eye using a soft eye shadow brush. Bring it back toward the iris and blend into the crease to create the smoky-cat eye look seen here on Rachel.

An even easier way to get this look is to use the cat eye Stencil from the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit (both shadows included) placing it higher on the eyelid will give you a thick and smoky cat eye with a strong point on the outer eye like Rachel’s. Soften the edges with your eyeshadow brush and finish with an icy shadow near the inner corner of the eye that extends to the iris and sweep the color on the lower lashline too. We are so late in getting the rest of our favorite red carpet beauties up on our blog but here they are. We hope you enjoy!

We just adore Penelope Cruz. She has great style and you can always count on her to be sporting gorgeous eyes, smoky eye or cat eye, she loves them both. At the Oscars she didn’t disappoint, her make up looked fresh and her skin was radiant. The focus was on her eyes which were tightly lined using a black gel eyeliner and then set using a Violet eyeshadow and pale lavender shadow to highlight the eyelids.

To get Penelope’s sexy eyes start with a rich black gel liner, try Onyx from beth bender and using a tapered brush apply along the lashline making sure to extend the line beyond the lashes and increasing the thickness of liner as you get closer to the outer eye.

Repeat the same underneath the lower lashline starting with a thicker line at the outer eye and tapering the line as you get closer to the inner eye. If you prefer not to line the entire eye as Penelope has done, you can blend the liner and stop slightly beyond the center of eye on the top and bottom.

Once you have finished applying the gel liner, using an eyeshadow brush take your Violet eyeshadow, Try Lilly Eyedust and sweep lightly over the liner and blend onto eyelid as seen here on Penelope. Take the same color and sweep under the eye as well. This will soften the liner and give the eyes a very sultry look. For eye popping peeper’s take a pale lavender shimmer, try Twinkle Twinkle and apply to the inner corner of eyes and blend into crease.

Finish with two coats of rich black mascara focusing on the outer lashes and make sure to hit the bottom lashes too. Try Lashblast Mascara in Black from CoverGirl available at most drugstores, Target, CVS and Walmart.

Sexy Smoky Eyes - Retro Style

I love the Smoky eyes on this model. It’s very Studio 54 and her make-up is beautiful. Of course the shot has been photo shopped to death but her eyes are just so sexy. Love how the eyeliner bleeds into the corner of her eyes and let’s not forget those lashes. Wanna know how to get these gorgeous eyes? We suggest using the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil kit. The last time I saw lashes like that was on my four year old nephew. Just remember to blend, blend, blend in the crease of your eyes and use a lighter color in the corner like they have here and blend up into the center of eye. Highlight the brow bone with the same light shade or a shimmer. To get a perfect line underneath use the smoky eye stencil and place under your eye along your lash line. With your eye shadow brush sweep a bit of color along the stencil and remove. To soften go over with eye shadow brush.

Repeat on the other eye and do the same for your top eye liner. Add a little concealer, set with a powder and finish with lots of mascara.
