Celebrity Beauty - Oscars 2008

Red Carpet Beauty – The Oscars 2008

Marion Cotillard strikes a pose

This was one of my favorite looks for hair, make up and wardrobe. Marion looked absolutely stunning in this Jean Paul Gaultier gown. She stood out amongst many of the starlets that night with her gorgeous cat eyes and cascades of sexy loose curls that framed her beautiful face.

To get Marion’s cat eyes start by adding some color to the eyelids first using a silver shimmer shadow. Try Vincent Longo’s Eye Shimmer Souffle in Pavlova, $24 at vincentlongo.com. It’s crease free and stays true for hours, perfect for red carpet beauty. For perfect cat eyes that will have everyone purring, try the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit from beth bender beauty. Each kit comes with a cat eye stencil and a smoky eye stencil. Follow the instructions included and create sexy cat eyes as seen here on Marion.

Give your lashes two coats of mascara focusing on the outer lashes and making sure to coat the top of lashes too for extra length and volume. Try LashBlast mascara in black from CoverGirl.
Give the cheeks a touch of color in a light berry hue and apply with a brush swirling the color around the apple of cheeks before blending up and into the hairline. Try Daisy powder blush, $26 from beth bender beauty.

Complete the look with a berry-red lip color. Try Vincent Longo’s Velvet Riche lip color in Rain Dance, $23 at vincentlongo.com. For fuller looking lips apply a lip pencil first and blend the liner into the lips. add a touch of gloss to the center of lips for extra pout appeal.

Celebrity Beauty-The Oscars

Red Carpet Beauty – The Oscars 2008

Jennifer Garner’s sexy smoky eyes

There was no shortage of sexy smoky eyes, alluring cat eyes, pale pink shimmer lips and red lips at this years Oscars. Our favorite beauties did not disappoint us as they made their way down the red carpet. We were loving all of the make up and hair and especially the different variations on the smoky eye and cat eye. Starting with Jennifer Garner who looked lovely in a black strapless gown, gorgeous diamonds and smoky eyes that sparkled almost as much as her accessories.

Her make up was beautiful and we loved her smoky eyes done in a shimmery bronze, with a strong gel eyeliner in Black. To get Jennifer’s look start by sweeping a bronze cream shadow over the eyelids and into the creases blending out towards your temples. Try Bronze Shimmer Cream Shadow, $18 at bethbenderbeauty.com.

Next line the outer half of the upper eyelids with Onyx Stay Put Gel Eyeliner. Making it thicker as you line towards the outer part of eye as seen here on Jennifer. Smudge the line with a Q-tip or brush and and extend the line slightly up and out beyond your lashes. You can also add a touch of gel liner in Onyx in between you bottom lashes using a thin a tapered brush. Keep the line soft and smudge with a Q-tip to avoid a heavy line.

To make your red carpet look even more eye popping add a few false lash clusters to the outer ends of each upper lashline. Our favorite’s are the Andrea or Ardell Lash clusters and the must have glue if you can find it is the Sherani Eyelash Adhesive. The best we’ve ever tried.

Finish with two coats of rich black mascara. Best for your red carpet look and our favorite is Shu Uemura's Basic Black Mascara, $27 at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Beth Bender's Fashion Week Report

FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK

Doo Ri Fall 2008

GET THE LOOK: I love this look so much! Makeup Artist Jeff Roose from Nars used a sheer blue shadow on the eyes. Roose wanted the eyes to pop and pop they did. They looked colorful and fresh, without looking overdone. A great color that flatters any skin tone.

INSIDER TIP: To create the eyes yourself make sure to only apply color from the inner corner of eye to the center of the eyelid. Then finish by sweeping a soft gray shade to the outer edge of the eye as seen here on the model. Try Nars Duo Eyeshadow in Island Fever, $32 at Narscosmetics.com.

Need help with your smoky eyes? Beth suggests using the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit, or the Get in Line Travel Stencil Set . Each come with a set of stencils and step by step instructions that show you how to get a smoky eye as seen here.

CELEBRITY BEAUTY - THE SAG AWARDS

BEAUTY WATCH – THE SAG AWARDS

GREY’S ANATOMY ELLEN POMPEO

Also on the red carpet strutting her stuff was Ellen Pompeo looking absolutely stunning in a Nina Ricci Gown. Her makeup and hair complimented this strapless gown and as always her brows looked perfect. Ellen’s eyes were smoky but done in champagne and amber tones which gave them a much more sultry look.

To get Ellen’s look start by grooming your brows first and then working you way down and finishing with the lips. I love Anastasia’s eyebrow stencils and stencil kit. They are so easy to use and come with step by step directions so you can’t go wrong.

Once you have decided on the perfect template that suits you brow shape fill in with a brow color and remove any hairs that fall outside of the shape. If you prefer a stronger brow you can add more color with the stencil still over the eyebrow.

Next we move to the eyes. Choose something with a shimmer as seen here on Ellen. I mixed two colors using Ambra Eye Dust and a bit of Ginger. I like to use my fingers first to apply color to the eyelid and then go back and blend with an eyeshadow brush. Especially if the lid is slightly shiny the color grabs and helps with placement. If you have questions about where to place the color you can use the Get in Line Smoky Eye Kit to help with this. Using a tapered eyeliner brush sweep some Ambra Eye Dust under the eye as seen here on Ellen.

To ensure that your eyeliner will stay put I suggest using a Gel Eyeliner instead of a liquid or powder. They are water and smudge resistant and once they dry they don’t move. Try Onyx Gel Liner, $18 from beth bender beauty. Make sure to get as close to the lash line a possible when applying the gel liner. You can tap some color in between your bottom lashes too but keep it on the softer side.

For fabulous red carpet lashes all night long try Shu Uemura’s Basic Black Mascara, $27 at sephora.com It’s a gel base formula that keeps the lashes from smudging and can be re-applied without clumping.

For the face I like Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Sticks, $40 at bobbibrown.com. They’re perfect for evening out the complexion without feeling too heavy. Plus you decide how much and where. I don’t recommend them for someone whose skin is extremely oily, instead an oil free liquid foundation would work best.

On the cheeks try try Cheek Duo in Pink Glow, $24 from Stila. It adds a delicate flush as seen here on Ellen. Finish with a sheer coral or warm peach lip shade that will balance your beautiful smoky eyes. Try Olympia Rose a nude-peach lip color, $26 from Vincent Longo. I used this color on a shoot last week and fell in love with it!!

Stay tuned for more celebrity looks from the SAG Awards and fashion week in NYC. The hottest runway looks and how to get them.

Get Perfect Eyeliner Everytime

It seems that Color on Pro whose idea was similar to the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit has gotten another bad wrap. This time from page six of the New York Post. They fell right above Tom Cruise’s wacky interview that everyone here in Hollywood can’t stop talking about.

color-on-pro.jpg

Well not to be partial or anything but I can’t say that I’m surprised. One of the biggest complaints was that there seemed to be very little shadow on the eyes and much more on the sticker it self. They might be slightly less expensive but when everything is said and done are you even getting what you want and once you’ve used them up you have to spend another $30?

Girls you know what to do for sultry smoky eyes and perfect eyeliner every time. The Get in Line Eyeliner Kit from beth bender beauty was the first and still is the only eyeliner stencil kit in the beauty industry to create these looks just like the pro’s.

Jenny McCarthy Loves The Get in Line Kit

Jenny McCarthy is in the house

Jenny McCarthy is the latest celebrity to give the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil kit the thumbs up. Jenny is working on a new project that one of my dear friends was called to work on last week in Los Angeles. It’s very hush hush but I hear that it’s fantastic and that Jenny was an absolute doll throughout the day.

When shooting was over he stopped by her dressing room and handed her a Get in Line kit. She was so touched and very excited to try the stencils having read about them recently in the Pasadena Star News. She’s a big fan of the cat eye and before he left she had already done a perfect set.

Now that’s what I call a real pro!

Rock on Jenny!!

Soft Smoky Eyes For Day or Night

kate-hudson-pastel-eyes.jpg

Get the Look….smoky eyes done in soft pastels as seen here on Kate Hudson look gorgeous day and night. To get the look apply a sheer wash of a pale, light catching hue around the lashline, sweep what’s left on the brush over the eyelids. Try Goddess Eye Dust from beth bender beauty.

Beth’s beauty tip: Curl your lashes and add a touch of brown mascara to the tips to keep the look soft and delicate. Use your Get in Line Eyeliner Kit to get perfectly shaped smoky eyes and use the fuller end of brush to soften the line as seen here on Kate.

Dramatic Smoky Eyes

Halle Berry’s Holiday Smoky Eyes

halle_berry.jpg

This mom-to-be plays up her natural glow with shimmering metallic shadow, flawless skin and pale pink gloss. To get this look make-up artist Beth Bender says start with the eyes first and then move on to the face and lips.

For a smoky eye try a dark silver shimmer and apply to the entire eyelid making sure to blend up into crease. Try Bellatrix Eye Dust, $16 at bethbenderbeauty. For longer lasting color apply with a damp brush. Get a perfect smoky eye using the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit. Hold the stencil in place over the eye and fill in with color. Use the bottom eyeliner stencil for lining the bottom eye. Smudge with your brush for a softer line as seen here on Halle.

For an even more dramatic eye add a little gel liner in Onyx right along the lash line making the line slightly thicker at the ends. Finish with two coats of mascara. Try Here To Stay Mascara, $19.50 at Prescriptives.com. It lifts, separates, and defines for lashes that are gorgeous!

Keep the face sheer. I like using a tinted moisturizer because it gives you coverage without leaving your skin feeling heavy. Apply with a brush for very sheer coverage and a sponge if you prefer more. Try Laura Mercier’s Flawless Face Tinted Moisturizer, $42 at Lauramercier.com.

Finish with a lip gloss in either a pink beige or a pale pink. Try Paris is Burning Liquid Lip Color, or Ooh Baby Liquid Lip Color both $16 and available at beth bender beauty.

Easy Eyeliner With The Get In Line Kit

I just recently read a blog that was written by Elke Von Freudenberg, who is the founder of the Beauty Blog network. She was talking about this product called Color on Pro which are these stick ons for the eyes that give you instant eyeshadow.

At first she was excited that something so simple might really work but in the end she was disappointed by the end result. There are very few things that really help with lining the eyes, but the Get in Line Kit really does.

get-in-line-kit.jpg

The Get in Line Eyeliner Stencil Kit, $36 at bettesboutique.com

The other night I was going to a Holiday party and wanted to do a really dramatic smoky eye. Since I had taken so long doing my hair, I had only a few minutes to do my eyes.

I started by lining the inside of my eye with a black pencil and then using the smoky eyeliner stencil to do my top eye. Then I used the same smoky eye stencil to apply eyeliner to my bottom eyes and finished by smudging the eyeliner into the eyelid for a beautiful sultry smoky eye. This took all of five minutes.

I added two coats of mascara and even had time to add a few individual lashes. My eyes looked so great that even my boyfriend noticed.

Ladies, this is the only kit out there for lining your eyes with ease. My sister uses it everyday and her Cat eyes always looks perfect. It makes a great gift and if you purchase before the 31st of December you will receive a full size sample of Little Beauty Liquid Lip Color. A gorgeous color on any complexion.

Cheers!

Holiday Beauty Tips From Beth Bender

Jennifer Garner’s Dramatic Eyes

Makeup artist Beth Bender suggests when creating this look on yourself to start with the eyes first. Start by lining the eyes with a black powder eyeshadow and line around the entire eye area. Keeping the line much thinner as you get closer to the inner corner of eye as seen her on Jennifer. Beth suggests using the Get in Line Stencil kit for lining both the top and bottom of eye.

Use your Cat eye stencil for the cat eye as seen here on Jennifer and the Bottom eyeliner stencil to line the bottom eye. Once you have lined the bottom eye use your brush to soften the line. Continue with this look by brushing a mixture of silver and lavender shadow on the upper inner eyelid and follow with a deep purple shadow from the outer corner, swept in. Try Double-o-Silver and Goddess Eye Dust, $16 at beth bender beauty. Make sure to blend all the shadow shades together to create "a seamless, smoky eye." Finish with two coats of mascara. Try Dior Show Mascara.

Keep the rest of your face soft with color. Try Baby Powder Blush and finish with a touch of Poppy Lip color from Laura Mercier.

Holiday Celeb Looks- Sexy Cat Eyes

Thandie Newton's Cat Eye

Add allure for special occasions with a sultry cat eye. Makeup artist Beth Bender says to start with a natural matte shadow over the entire eyelid and then create the cat eye. She recommends using the Get in Line Stencil System which will do a cat eye as thin or as thick as you like. Seen here on Thandie Newton. For a more dramatic look, line underneath the eye using the bottom liner stencil from the kit and smudge with your brush for a soft sexier look. Frame the eyes with a rosy beige blush, try Baby, $26 at bettesboutique.com and highlight the cheeks with Shiseido Glistening Flush.

Beth Bender Beauty On The Scene

Check it out...

Julia Roberts lighting up the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of her latest flick "Charlie Wilson's War". Our beauty spy's tell us she had a Little Beauty Liquid Lip Gloss that she used before a photo was snapped and in between signing dozens of autographs. Also in her evening bag was a Get in Line Kit for the after party and quick touch ups throughout the night.

Our beauty spy's saw her giving her lips some extra loving with some Chasing the Cash Liquid Lip color from beth bender beauty. Mischa is also a fan of the Get in Line stencil kit. Can you tell? Her eyes always look so beautiful.

Everybody wants a smoky eye like Scarlett's. We also sent a few more Chasing the Cash Liquid Lip glosses and an extra Baby blush just in case.

Paris Hilton spending a little money in South Beach at the Atrium Clothing Boutique. Of course a little money to her but a year's salary to some. Overheard telling the sales girl that the lip color she was wearing was "Paris is Burning" from beth bender beauty. "It is fabulous, isn't it" she said. How sweet!

Holiday Eyes That Sizzle!

Lauren Conrad’s eyes look beautiful with a soft silver shimmer on the eyelids and a strong black liner which makes her green eyes even greener. I love the red lips and her sheer face with just a touch of sheen on the cheeks.

lauren_conrad-red-lips-1.jpg

To get this look start with a silver shadow and apply with an eyeshadow brush on just your eyelids making sure to get the color into the corner of eyes as seen here. Try Double-O-Silver, $16 at bettesboutique.com. For perfect eyeliner we suggest using the Get in Line Stencil kit, $36 at bethbenderbeauty.com. It does the work for you. Simply lay the stencil over your eye and apply the color. No space in between your lash line and eyelid, just perfect eyeliner. Finish with two coats of black mascara. We like Dior Show Mascara, $23 at Sephora.com.

Keep the the cheeks soft with just a touch of color. We like Stila’s Tutu powder blush, $16 at Stilacosmetics.com. Add just a touch of shimmer on the apple of cheeks as seen here. We like Bobbi Brown’s Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick, $38 at Bobbibrown.com.

To finish this fabulous look apply a super sexy lip gloss in red with lots of shine. We like Sugar Daddy Liquid Lip color, $16 at bettesboutique.com. For longer lasting color fill in your lips first with a red lip pencil and then apply the gloss.
