Hot pink lips – ooh baby!

Molly Sims is all about the pink. Seen here with gorgeous pink cheeks and lips to match. Pink is the perfect girly and flirty color for lips this spring says Beth. Molly picked just the right shade that plays up her skintone and with so many variations of pink there is a great color for everyone.

Beth’s tip when choosing a bright pink lip color is to make that the focal point and keep everything else softer. For a great pink lip color try Honolulu Girl High Shine Glam gloss, $16 from beth bender beauty.

Red Carpet Style Watch

Pearlescent eye shimmers for spring

As we begin the spring season look for lots of light eye shimmers on the red carpet. As seen here on Leighton Meester who very confidently is batting a sparkling shimmery eye and looking quite beautiful.

To get Leighton’s look start by lining the inside of eyes with a soft deep purple eyeliner. Try Black purple 6L $16, from Make Up Forever. With the same pencil line the corners of eyes and blend into lashline. For a more dramatic look make the outer corners thicker as seen here on Leighton.

Next using a shimmer cream shadow apply over your entire eyelid and along the lower lashline. Use your fingers to do both. Try Lilac Opalescence, $16 from beth bender beauty.

Finally, finish by sweeping a golden beige shimmer shadow into the crease using a blender brush for a perfect application. Try Ambra Eye Dust, $16 from beth bender beauty.

A Great Cream Shadow From Shiseido

I sometimes get asked if it’s weird to be recommending other beauty products when I have my own beauty line, but the answer is absolutely not. I was a make up artist first for years before I even began my own beauty line and am a big supporter of other artist’s who have their own beauty lines.

One of my long time fav’s is Shiseido. I began wearing this fabulous line in my early 20’s when I was introduced to it on a visit to Japan. I am also a huge fan of Dick Page who has become a pretty important part of their beauty line going forward.

I was given this cream to powder shadow in Rose Tulle (a new shade) to try and have to say it is pretty amazing. It looks beautiful on and is crease free which is always an added when it comes to creams. It’s the perfect amount of shimmer and color for the eyes. They have so many colors to choose from so you won’t have a problem finding one that suits you.

Kevyn Aucoin’s New Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Medium Nude Beige . Have you tried it? It is just what my make up bag and Kit have been missing. Fabulous for creating fuller lips without the pain. Best thing about this lip pencil is that you can use it with any color to define your lips without them looking unnatural. There are three additional flesh tone colors but this is my favorite.

GET THE LOOK: I love this look so much! Makeup Artist Jeff Roose from Nars used a sheer blue shadow on the eyes. Roose wanted the eyes to pop and pop they did. They looked colorful and fresh, without looking overdone. A great color that flatters any skin tone.

INSIDER TIP: To create the eyes yourself make sure to only apply color from the inner corner of eye to the center of the eyelid. Then finish by sweeping a soft gray shade to the outer edge of the eye as seen here on the model. Try Nars Duo Eyeshadow in Island Fever, $32 at Narscosmetics.com.

Miss Sixty 2008

I am crazy about Miss Sixty and love this very mod and very 70’s- influenced look that was created for their show at fashion week in New York. Neil Moodie of Bumble & Bumble created the hair and Gucci Westman who was working with MAC created the make up. Gucci Westman is an amazing artist whose work can be seen in many beauty magazines.

Her inspiration for the look was a cross between Joan Jett and bohemian with a little bit of Endora. Rich Blue eyeshadow was the theme for the eyes, while everything else was much softer.

Defined brows and a soft peach lip color with a touch of clear gloss for added shine completed this very beautiful look.

GREY’S ANATOMY ELLEN POMPEO

Also on the red carpet strutting her stuff was Ellen Pompeo looking absolutely stunning in a Nina Ricci Gown. Her makeup and hair complimented this strapless gown and as always her brows looked perfect. Ellen’s eyes were smoky but done in champagne and amber tones which gave them a much more sultry look.

To get Ellen’s look start by grooming your brows first and then working you way down and finishing with the lips. I love Anastasia’s eyebrow stencils and stencil kit. They are so easy to use and come with step by step directions so you can’t go wrong.

Once you have decided on the perfect template that suits you brow shape fill in with a brow color and remove any hairs that fall outside of the shape. If you prefer a stronger brow you can add more color with the stencil still over the eyebrow.

Next we move to the eyes. Choose something with a shimmer as seen here on Ellen. I mixed two colors using Ambra Eye Dust and a bit of Ginger. I like to use my fingers first to apply color to the eyelid and then go back and blend with an eyeshadow brush. Especially if the lid is slightly shiny the color grabs and helps with placement. If you have questions about where to place the color you can use the Get in Line Smoky Eye Kit to help with this. Using a tapered eyeliner brush sweep some Ambra Eye Dust under the eye as seen here on Ellen.

To ensure that your eyeliner will stay put I suggest using a Gel Eyeliner instead of a liquid or powder. They are water and smudge resistant and once they dry they don’t move. Try Onyx Gel Liner, $18 from beth bender beauty. Make sure to get as close to the lash line a possible when applying the gel liner. You can tap some color in between your bottom lashes too but keep it on the softer side.

For fabulous red carpet lashes all night long try Shu Uemura’s Basic Black Mascara, $27 at sephora.com It’s a gel base formula that keeps the lashes from smudging and can be re-applied without clumping.

For the face I like Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Sticks, $40 at bobbibrown.com. They’re perfect for evening out the complexion without feeling too heavy. Plus you decide how much and where. I don’t recommend them for someone whose skin is extremely oily, instead an oil free liquid foundation would work best.

On the cheeks try try Cheek Duo in Pink Glow, $24 from Stila. It adds a delicate flush as seen here on Ellen. Finish with a sheer coral or warm peach lip shade that will balance your beautiful smoky eyes. Try Olympia Rose a nude-peach lip color, $26 from Vincent Longo. I used this color on a shoot last week and fell in love with it!!

BEAUTY WATCH – THE SAG AWARDS

These Hollywood celebs looked beautiful and who can blame them with the Golden Globes being cancelled. They needed a reason to get gorgeous and gorgeous they were! Some of my favorites were Angelina Jolie, Andrea Bowen from Desperate Housewives and Marion Cotillard from La Vie En Rose. Make up artists and hair stylists worked overtime to get these ladies to the red carpet on time.

Andrea Bowen looked beautiful with her hair swept up and away from her face. Her make up was flawless and her perfectly groomed brows and sultry smoky eyes took front and center.

To get Andrea’s look start with the eyes first. Andrea went for a more dramatic smoky eye using colors in brown and amber shimmers. Her eyes were lined top and bottom with a black gel eyeliner and set with a bit of shadow for a softer look.

Start by applying color to the entire eyelid area with an eyeshadow brush and blending into the crease as seen here. If you have a Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit you can use the smoky eye template to create the shape before blending into the crease of eye. Don’t worry about concealer until the eyes are finished. I like to mix both colors before applying to the eye. Try Brown Sugar and Ambra Eye Dust, $16 at bettesboutique.com.

To finish the smoky eyes, with an eyeshadow brush apply a lighter shade to the brow bone making sure to blend color well. A great base color for this is Bobbi Brown’s Champagne Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow, $19 at Bobbi Brown.

Next take your black gel eyeliner and with a tapered or straight edge eyeliner brush carefully tap into the lash line as you line the eye. Extend the line out as seen here on Andrea and finish by lining underneath so that both bottom and top liner meet at the outer eye. As you get closer to the center of eye start to make the line thinner and blend into lash line.

Take a bit of Ambra eye dust with an eyeshadow brush and sweep under the eye to soften the line and give it a more dramatic look. Our new favorite mascara is Fiberwig but a good black mascara will do just fine. Add two coats and make sure to coat each lash for maximum lash appeal.

Clean up any mess underneath the eyes with a bit of eye cream and a Q-tip. Then apply concealer. For a flawless face add a bit of tinted moisturizer or a water based foundation. Use a sponge for more coverage and a brush for a more sheer finish. On the cheeks a little cream blush in either a pink or peach tone adds just the right amount of color without over doing it. Try Kitty or Blushing Bride, $18 and both from bethbenderbeauty.com.

Stick to a light shade on the lips as well. Try Afterglow Lip Enhancing Gloss, $18 from Smashbox Cosmetics. It’s the perfect combination of a pink/peach gloss and has great shine.
