Our Favorite Beauty Blogs

Our Favorite Beauty Blog Sites

We start this week off with a big hand of applause to some of our very favorite beauty blog sites. Over the next week we will share with you our top ten blog sites for beauty, fashion and great style. When we first began blogging more than a year ago a few of these were what got us hooked and continue to inspire us everyday.

Starting with Christina from ebeautydaily also the Channel Editor for the Beauty & Style Channel so you can imagine how busy she is, and a mother of three too! We just adore her and ebeautydaily.
Each product review is filled with great info and an extra dose of Texas charm and style! Once you start reading them I promise you won't be able to stop. So make sure and subscribe to catch up on the latest in beauty and everything else in between.

Also another favorite is beautifulmakeupsearch, Teri Cosenzi heads up this fabulous site which includes news on the latest beauty products, as well as fashion week and celebrity style. She features the latest and newest products to hit the beauty industry. Her site is just fabulous and her product reviews are so good that you too will want to try every product and beauty "must haves".

Teri also writes another fantastic blog called CelebLOOK which give you tips on how to create some of the hottest celebrity beauty seen in all of the fashion and style magazines.

One of our newest beauty blogs to make it on our top ten list is Temptalia. If you haven't yet checked this one out we highly recommend it. It is filled with tons of beauty info and some fantastic photo's of Christine who is the founder of Temptalia demonstrating some gorgeous eyes in lots of different shades.

The pictures will definitely inspire you to do up your eyes and have a little fun at the same time. Christine is barely out of college and you will be blown away by how awesome this site is.

Totalbeauty
which launched back in early 2008 is a fabulous site for beauty, product reviews, video demo's on how to's, and great sample give aways for its members. Many of the beauty bloggers mentioned are also contributing editors at Totalbeauty so you can imagine how great the website is. It is filled with great reads and expert advice from some of the beauty worlds biggest pro's.

And yet another fav Beautyaddict which has been on everyone's beauty radar for quite some time now. Kristin Kelly, the beauty addict calls herself a little obsessed with make up, and who can blame her. If you're a make up junkie like myself, one can never have enough beauty products. This is a great site and one that should definitely be bookmarked under "best beauty blogs".

Look for more of our favorite beauty blog sites this week.

CELEBRITY BEAUTY - THE SAG AWARDS

BEAUTY WATCH – THE SAG AWARDS

GREY’S ANATOMY ELLEN POMPEO

Also on the red carpet strutting her stuff was Ellen Pompeo looking absolutely stunning in a Nina Ricci Gown. Her makeup and hair complimented this strapless gown and as always her brows looked perfect. Ellen’s eyes were smoky but done in champagne and amber tones which gave them a much more sultry look.

To get Ellen’s look start by grooming your brows first and then working you way down and finishing with the lips. I love Anastasia’s eyebrow stencils and stencil kit. They are so easy to use and come with step by step directions so you can’t go wrong.

Once you have decided on the perfect template that suits you brow shape fill in with a brow color and remove any hairs that fall outside of the shape. If you prefer a stronger brow you can add more color with the stencil still over the eyebrow.

Next we move to the eyes. Choose something with a shimmer as seen here on Ellen. I mixed two colors using Ambra Eye Dust and a bit of Ginger. I like to use my fingers first to apply color to the eyelid and then go back and blend with an eyeshadow brush. Especially if the lid is slightly shiny the color grabs and helps with placement. If you have questions about where to place the color you can use the Get in Line Smoky Eye Kit to help with this. Using a tapered eyeliner brush sweep some Ambra Eye Dust under the eye as seen here on Ellen.

To ensure that your eyeliner will stay put I suggest using a Gel Eyeliner instead of a liquid or powder. They are water and smudge resistant and once they dry they don’t move. Try Onyx Gel Liner, $18 from beth bender beauty. Make sure to get as close to the lash line a possible when applying the gel liner. You can tap some color in between your bottom lashes too but keep it on the softer side.

For fabulous red carpet lashes all night long try Shu Uemura’s Basic Black Mascara, $27 at sephora.com It’s a gel base formula that keeps the lashes from smudging and can be re-applied without clumping.

For the face I like Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Sticks, $40 at bobbibrown.com. They’re perfect for evening out the complexion without feeling too heavy. Plus you decide how much and where. I don’t recommend them for someone whose skin is extremely oily, instead an oil free liquid foundation would work best.

On the cheeks try try Cheek Duo in Pink Glow, $24 from Stila. It adds a delicate flush as seen here on Ellen. Finish with a sheer coral or warm peach lip shade that will balance your beautiful smoky eyes. Try Olympia Rose a nude-peach lip color, $26 from Vincent Longo. I used this color on a shoot last week and fell in love with it!!

Stay tuned for more celebrity looks from the SAG Awards and fashion week in NYC. The hottest runway looks and how to get them.

Let’s Create Sexy Cat Eyes

Sexy cat eyes please, please!

sexy-cat-eyes.jpg

Just the other day a woman who was interested in trying the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit sent us an email with this photo attached and asked if she could create cat eyes like this. My very sweet assistant spent quite a bit of time explaining to her how they worked and that by placing the stencils either close to the lash line or slightly higher would give you a cat eye as dramatic as the one seen here.

When they were finished she decided to give the Get in Line Kit a try and we are happy to report that she has been sporting sexy cat eyes ever since. If you don’t believe us, check out ebeautydaily, beautiful makeup search, hotmamadaily, and Glamspace a few of our favorite blogs to see what they think of the Get in Line Kit.

This is a hot photo and I do love the pinks lips. Looks like Ooh Baby Liquid Lip color. Pink is also a very hot color for spring. Lot’s of glosses and lip color that a girl just can’t be without.

xoxo,

How to Choose The Right Lip Color

rachel-bilson-lips.jpg

Coral lips are back for spring and looking good on Rachel Bilson. I don’t think I have ever seen her look bad. Make sure to choose a coral that works best for your coloring. If you’re fair and have more pink in your skin then choose a coral shade that has blue undertones. If your complexion is warmer go for a lip color with warm or yellow undertones. Try Claret SPF Lip Shine, $19 from Bobbi Brown which looks beautiful on both fair and darker skin tones.

If you’re looking for shine and hydrating lip color try Sophia Beauty Balm, $10 at beth bender beauty. If you’re a gloss girl like me then go with Dahlia glam gloss, $16 at Beth Bender Beauty.

For perfect eyeliner like Rachel’s try the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit, $36 at bettesboutique.com.

Carmen’s new Look

carmen-electra.jpg

Tell us what you think..

I do love Carmen Electra. I usually love the way she looks but I have to agree with Christina from ebeautydaily. I am not sure that this is the shot that Max factor should be using to promote their”how to get Carmen’s red carpet couture look”.

Pat McGrath is probably one of the most recognized artists along with Dick Page and Tom Pecheux but what goes on with this look? Her teeth are so over the top not to mention how overly photoshoped her complexion is.

My favorite Carmen look is hair down, loose waves and definitely less of the eye make up as seen here.

agree or disagree?

Sexy, Sultry Cat Eyes Like Angelina

Sexy cat eyes please, please!

angelina-glamour-blog.jpg

Love Angelina Jolie? You bet we do! Her style is her own and she wears it so well. Her signature Cat eye has become a staple in her beauty regime and you can’t help but want those cat eyes.

To create Angelina’s sexy cat eyes Beth suggests using The Get in Line Stencil Kit for absolutely perfect cat eyes. You decide how thick or thin. It gives you a perfect point and line and takes seconds to do.

For a soft lip color to compliment your sexy cat eyes, try Chasing the cash Liquid Lip color, a fav of Angelina’s.

Sultry Smoky Eyes and Fushia Lips

keira-knightley-fushia-lips.jpg

Kiera Knightley’s smoky eyes look gorgeous and her fushia lips are giving them a run for their money. This latest incarnation of the bold red lip but with cooler tones looks powerful and oh so sweet!

To get these pretty lips like Keira, Beth suggests smiling while you apply your lip color. It stretches the lip and allows you to coat the entire surface exposing every furrow to be filled in with pigment.

Love her smoky eyes? We do too. For those of you who haven’t yet mastered the smoky eye or just don’t have the time to spend in front of the mirror, Beth suggests using her Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit. Create smoky eyes in minutes as seen here on Keira Knightley.

Keep Your Eyeliner Smudge Free

How can I stop my eyeliner from smearing under my bottom eyelashes? Nothing seems to work!

rachel-bilson-eyeliner.jpg

The secret to perfect looking eyeliner that stays put is layering. Rachel Bilson has mastered the art of perfect eyeliner using her Get in Line Kit and her favorite black eyeliner from Prescriptives. Black eyeliner in particular always has an annoying habit of streaking down one’s cheeks at inappropriate moments, which is why you need to take the extra step to make sure it doesn’t move all day.

Beth says the trick is to apply your eye pencil as you normally would, then use an eye lining brush to go over the line with the exact same color of eye shadow. Blend it in well. The powdery formulation of the shadow locks the color in place and keeps it from going anywhere. For perfect eyeliner like Rachel’s beth suggests trying the Get in Line eyeliner and eyeshadow kit. The stencils allow you to create perfect eyeliner and include a beautiful charcoal and Indian brown eyeshadow.

Don’t forget that if you’re using an eye cream or cream concealers to make sure and powder under the eye using either a powder puff or brush.

Dramatic Smoky Eyes

Halle Berry’s Holiday Smoky Eyes

halle_berry.jpg

This mom-to-be plays up her natural glow with shimmering metallic shadow, flawless skin and pale pink gloss. To get this look make-up artist Beth Bender says start with the eyes first and then move on to the face and lips.

For a smoky eye try a dark silver shimmer and apply to the entire eyelid making sure to blend up into crease. Try Bellatrix Eye Dust, $16 at bethbenderbeauty. For longer lasting color apply with a damp brush. Get a perfect smoky eye using the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit. Hold the stencil in place over the eye and fill in with color. Use the bottom eyeliner stencil for lining the bottom eye. Smudge with your brush for a softer line as seen here on Halle.

For an even more dramatic eye add a little gel liner in Onyx right along the lash line making the line slightly thicker at the ends. Finish with two coats of mascara. Try Here To Stay Mascara, $19.50 at Prescriptives.com. It lifts, separates, and defines for lashes that are gorgeous!

Keep the face sheer. I like using a tinted moisturizer because it gives you coverage without leaving your skin feeling heavy. Apply with a brush for very sheer coverage and a sponge if you prefer more. Try Laura Mercier’s Flawless Face Tinted Moisturizer, $42 at Lauramercier.com.

Finish with a lip gloss in either a pink beige or a pale pink. Try Paris is Burning Liquid Lip Color, or Ooh Baby Liquid Lip Color both $16 and available at beth bender beauty.

Holiday Beauty Tips From Beth Bender

Jennifer Garner’s Dramatic Eyes

Makeup artist Beth Bender suggests when creating this look on yourself to start with the eyes first. Start by lining the eyes with a black powder eyeshadow and line around the entire eye area. Keeping the line much thinner as you get closer to the inner corner of eye as seen her on Jennifer. Beth suggests using the Get in Line Stencil kit for lining both the top and bottom of eye.

Use your Cat eye stencil for the cat eye as seen here on Jennifer and the Bottom eyeliner stencil to line the bottom eye. Once you have lined the bottom eye use your brush to soften the line. Continue with this look by brushing a mixture of silver and lavender shadow on the upper inner eyelid and follow with a deep purple shadow from the outer corner, swept in. Try Double-o-Silver and Goddess Eye Dust, $16 at beth bender beauty. Make sure to blend all the shadow shades together to create "a seamless, smoky eye." Finish with two coats of mascara. Try Dior Show Mascara.

Keep the rest of your face soft with color. Try Baby Powder Blush and finish with a touch of Poppy Lip color from Laura Mercier.

Sexy Smoky Cat Eyes Please

I have always thought Kerry Washington was stunning but this photo of her is off the charts! She is working that smoky look like nobody’s business and her almond shape eyes make them even more dazzling. Someone spent a lot of time making those eyes gorgeous and it shows.

kerry_washington-hoilday-smoky-eye.jpg

To get this look try a deep charcoal shadow and extend the color to the base of the brow bone as seen here. I call this a smoky cat eye because it looks like a smoky eye but has a point like a cat eye. You can use a softer shimmer shadow in a dark silver or one without shimmer depending on how dark you want the eye.

Make sure to really blend the color and for a little pop add a bit of gold or light bronze shimmer to the corner of eyes. Finish by lining the inside of your eyes with a black liner and two coats of black mascara, concentrating on the outer lashes.

For sexy cat eyes like these check out The Get in Line Eyeliner & Stencil Kit at bettesboutique.com

Keep your lips sheer so the focus is on your sexy cat eyes. Try Chasing the Cash liquid lip color from beth bender beauty, new from the Hollywood Nude Collection.

Best Smoky Eye Kit For Women On The Go

I was waiting on line this morning at the grocery store and had a few minutes to skim through this weeks People Magazine. I stumbled upon a page of Smoky eye Kit’s from various cosmetic companies wondering where The Get in Line Stencil Kit was since it is the easiest and has the least amount of steps to achieve a smoky eye and cat eye that look just as fabulous.

So I decided to write and remind anyone in search of the perfect smoky eye kit to check out the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kt from Beth Bender Beauty, available at bettesboutique.com.

Most of the women I know don’t have time but they all love beauty products and love the idea of having sexy eyes and a five minute make up routine that keeps them on schedule. Just this weekend while we were away I brought a few Get in Line kits with me and gave one to each of the women there. In seconds they had done perfect cat eyes and smoky eyes.

It was so amazing and beautiful to watch their transformation and to see how excited they each were to have mastered what was once a difficult task.

get-in-line-image.jpg

The Get in Line Stencil Kit is $36 and comes with everything you need to create beautiful sexy eyes. If the kit is not what you need then may we suggest the Travel Stencil Set, $16, which comes with the stencils, brush and directions in a cute little pouch.

Smoky eyes are just seconds away!

Sienna Miller's Scary Brows

The lovely Christina of ebeautydaily recently wrote about Sienna Miller's brows on the cover of Vogue for September and I just want to know quite frankly who has been shooting these covers. Lately the photo's look soft and not flattering at all. They have managed to take some of the most attractive women and turn them into horror's.

The scariest thing of all is that Anna Wintour herself approved this cover. Her brows are so over the top that unfortunately that is the only thing you see. So different than the picture of Sienna's eyebrows in the photo above. They are perfectly shaped and shaded to compliment her.

With all of the beauty trends that have come from fall fashion week and Vogue being one of the leaders in style and Beauty, I just want to say "What were they thinking?!"

You are not alone Christina. Brow power ladies.

Congratulations to ebeautydaily for all of it's amazing press and it's latest nod in Texas weekly.

B
