Celebrity Beauty - Oscars 2008

Red Carpet Beauty – The Oscars 2008

Marion Cotillard strikes a pose

This was one of my favorite looks for hair, make up and wardrobe. Marion looked absolutely stunning in this Jean Paul Gaultier gown. She stood out amongst many of the starlets that night with her gorgeous cat eyes and cascades of sexy loose curls that framed her beautiful face.

To get Marion’s cat eyes start by adding some color to the eyelids first using a silver shimmer shadow. Try Vincent Longo’s Eye Shimmer Souffle in Pavlova, $24 at vincentlongo.com. It’s crease free and stays true for hours, perfect for red carpet beauty. For perfect cat eyes that will have everyone purring, try the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit from beth bender beauty. Each kit comes with a cat eye stencil and a smoky eye stencil. Follow the instructions included and create sexy cat eyes as seen here on Marion.

Give your lashes two coats of mascara focusing on the outer lashes and making sure to coat the top of lashes too for extra length and volume. Try LashBlast mascara in black from CoverGirl.
Give the cheeks a touch of color in a light berry hue and apply with a brush swirling the color around the apple of cheeks before blending up and into the hairline. Try Daisy powder blush, $26 from beth bender beauty.

Complete the look with a berry-red lip color. Try Vincent Longo’s Velvet Riche lip color in Rain Dance, $23 at vincentlongo.com. For fuller looking lips apply a lip pencil first and blend the liner into the lips. add a touch of gloss to the center of lips for extra pout appeal.

Celebrity Beauty - Oscars 2008

Red Carpet Beauty – The Oscars 2008

Heidi Klum sparkles on Oscar night!

Heidi Klum’s stunning red carpet look was made even more beautiful with her bold smoky eyes and bronzed cheeks. We loved the silver shimmer shadow on her eyes that lit up her face and made her one of our favorite red carpet beauties.

To get Heidi’s look start with a shimmer shadow in silver and apply to the eyelid and into the crease making sure to blend the color into the inner corners of each eye as seen here. Take the same silver shimmer shadow and sweep under the eyes before adding your black eyeliner. Try NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Paris. Use the silver shimmer on the eyelid and contour the crease of eye with the matte gray shadow as seen here on Heidi.

Finish with a black gel liner and begin applying right above the inner corner of top eyelid extending the liner out beyond the lashes. For the best results use a thin and tapered eyeliner brush and tap along the lashline. Try Onyx Stay put Gel Eyeliner, $18 at bethbenderbeauty.com. Bring the gel eyeliner underneath each eye at the outer corners and blend into the lashline.

Finish with a fabulous black Mascara and some false eyelash clusters to complete Heidi’s dazzling eyes. Apply one coat of mascara before adding the lashes to create a platform that will make them easier to slide in. Try Diorshow Mascara in Black, $24 at Sephora and sephora.com. Try Ardell Lash Clusters for sexy peeper’s that will have heads spinning. Available at most drugstores and beauty supply stores.

Give your cheeks a beautiful bronzed glow with Soak up the Sun Bronzing Powder, $26 at beth bender beauty. A favorite backstage at the Oscar’s this year. Swirl the color on the apple of cheeks with a powder brush and blend along the cheekbones for a flawless application. To finish add a touch of bronzer to the bridge of nose and forehead.

Finish with a pale pink shimmer lipstick, or lip gloss to compliment your beautiful smoky eyes. Try Paris is Burning from beth bender beauty, a pink beige shimmer gloss or Laura Mercier’s Pink Dawn Lip Shimmer , a light nude pink $22 at Lauramercier.com.

You’re red carpet ready gorgeous!

Red Carpet Beauty – The Oscars 2008

Jennifer Garner’s sexy smoky eyes

There was no shortage of sexy smoky eyes, alluring cat eyes, pale pink shimmer lips and red lips at this years Oscars. Our favorite beauties did not disappoint us as they made their way down the red carpet. We were loving all of the make up and hair and especially the different variations on the smoky eye and cat eye. Starting with Jennifer Garner who looked lovely in a black strapless gown, gorgeous diamonds and smoky eyes that sparkled almost as much as her accessories.

Her make up was beautiful and we loved her smoky eyes done in a shimmery bronze, with a strong gel eyeliner in Black. To get Jennifer’s look start by sweeping a bronze cream shadow over the eyelids and into the creases blending out towards your temples. Try Bronze Shimmer Cream Shadow, $18 at bethbenderbeauty.com.

Next line the outer half of the upper eyelids with Onyx Stay Put Gel Eyeliner. Making it thicker as you line towards the outer part of eye as seen here on Jennifer. Smudge the line with a Q-tip or brush and and extend the line slightly up and out beyond your lashes. You can also add a touch of gel liner in Onyx in between you bottom lashes using a thin a tapered brush. Keep the line soft and smudge with a Q-tip to avoid a heavy line.

To make your red carpet look even more eye popping add a few false lash clusters to the outer ends of each upper lashline. Our favorite’s are the Andrea or Ardell Lash clusters and the must have glue if you can find it is the Sherani Eyelash Adhesive. The best we’ve ever tried.

Finish with two coats of rich black mascara. Best for your red carpet look and our favorite is Shu Uemura's Basic Black Mascara, $27 at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Celebrity Beauty - The Academy's

Hi Everyone:

Wow. What a busy weekend we had here in Hollywood. Starting with the Spirit Awards on Saturday and finishing with the Academy Awards yesterday. Lots of celebrity beauty style to share with you so check back in with us on Wednesday when we will be giving you the most popular looks that made their way down the famous red carpet.

The big color last night was red. Red gowns, red lips, rosy red cheeks and lots of bling. Gorgeous smoky eyes in light bronze and pewter tones, pale silver shimmer, heavy black liner and cat eyes, still going strong.

It was a beautiful evening and thankfully no rain so everyone's make up & hair look gorgeous. A big thumbs up to all of the make up and hair stylists who really shined last night!

Hollywood Sizzles At The Oscars

Red Carpet Beauty

Count Down To Tonight’s Oscars

Give me sexy cat eyes like Alicia Keys please!

As we continue our celebration on beauty and get ready for tonight’s Academy Awards here is another favorite of ours, the always beautiful Alicia Keys. Seen here looking simply sexy in her very perfect and striking cat eyes. This look is all about the eyes baby and to get these gorgeous cat eyes we suggest using the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit. You can create cat eyes as thick as Alicia’s seen here or as thin as you like using the cat eye stencil that comes in the kit. Beth’s beauty tip: Apply a black gel eyeliner over the cat eye and keep the color from smudging and budging all night long. Try Onyx gel Liner and apply with a tapered eyeliner brush.

Add some extra sizzle with a silver shimmer eye shadow and apply it to the inner corners of your eye lids. Try Double-O- Silver, $16 at beth benderbeauty.com.

Beth’s little beauty tip: Dampen the brush before applying the shimmer shadow for color that will outlast the night. Finish with a fabulous mascara and apply two coats. Our latest fav is Fiberwig, new from Japan and only available at Sephora.

Tonight Hollywood Sizzles

Red Carpet Beauty

Count Down To Tonight’s Oscars

It’s only a few hours before some of Hollywood’s most famous faces will take center stage at this years Academy Awards. Most of them are already sitting in someones make up chair or having their hair done for the big night. Getting set to walk the red carpet and be camera ready, which let’s face it is the most fun and tomorrow every Beauty Blog site, magazine, and television will be talking about how they looked and how to get their look.

To get everyone in the mood for tonight’s Oscars we though we would share with you some of our most favorite beauty styles. Starting with Katie Holmes who looks so beautiful in this picture. Her make up is fresh and soft letting her own natural beauty come through.

Eyes: Get Katie’s look starting with the eyes first. Using a Cocoa brown liner. We suggest a Gel Eyeliner that doesn’t smudge. Try Cocoa, $18 at beth bender beauty. Using a tapered eyeliner brush carefully apply the eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible. Top and bottom as seen here on Katie. To add a little more pop to the eye apply a shimmer eyeshadow over the eyeliner and blend into the gel liner adding some color to the eyelid as well, try Ambra Eye Dust. Finish with two coats of black mascara, our new fav is Fiberwig, $22 and only at Sephora. If you’re feeling a little feline add a few individual lash clusters to the ends of each eye and give your lashes an extra coat of mascara.

Face: Use a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation for skin that looks beautiful and sun-kissed. We just love Vincent Longo’s New Light Canvas Tinted Moisturizer, $38 at Vincentlongo.com. Use a brush for a more sheer application as seen here on Katie, or a sponge for medium to full coverage.

Cheeks: A soft cream or powder blush in pink depending on your preference and skin type. Try A little Crush Powder Blush, $26 at beth bender beauty. If your skin tends to get a bit more shiny go with a powder. With a blush brush start by swirling the color on the apple of your cheeks and blending along cheek bones. Use your fingers with a cream blush and start at the apple of cheeks making sure to blend color along cheek bone. Try Laura Mercier’s Cream Cheek Color in Oleander, $22 at Lauramercier.com

Lips: Finish with a lip color in a rosy-mauve or Berry as seen here on Katie. We like Dry Rose Lip Cream Color , $22 at Laura Mercier. For lips that are red carpet ready with sizzle apply a layer of Rosy-Mauve shimmer gloss. Try custom blended lip gloss in Sweet Thing High Shine Gloss, $16 at beth bender beauty.

Now you’re red carpet ready baby!

Celebs Wearing Beth Bender Beauty

I SPY BETH BENDER BEAUTY

Evangeline Lilly and friends on the set of Lost in Hawaii. Our friend E-jay and fabulous make up artist stopped by the set to drop off some goodies from beth bender beauty. The biggest requests were the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit, Soak up the Sun Bronzer, and Beauty Balm in Bella.

Seen Jessica and Ashlee Simpson in Dallas dining with their guys. These ladies really get around. Our little beauty spies tell us when dinner was over they each pulled out an Ooh Baby lip gloss and gave their pouts some extra glam before leaving.

Rachel Bilson in New York doing a press junket for her new thriller Jumper. One of our very good friends Pamela happened to be the make up artist touching her up. A good thing since her gel eyeliner is Onyx from beth bender beauty and her lip color was Tallulah. Both on hand since Pamela uses a number of things from the line. Rachel had her Get in Line Eyeliner kit with her just in case, but Pamela had that too.

New to beth bender beauty Broadway sensation Idina Menzel and wife of Taye Diggs. They actually met when they were doing the Broadway hit Rent together years ago. Our publicist dropped off a few thing to Idina a few weeks ago and she flipped over the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit. She said cat eyes were her favorite and has been using it everyday along with the Paris is Burning Lip Gloss that she’s already ordered three more of.

Celebrity Look Of The Week

Get The Look

Celebrity Beauty - Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore’s skin looks radiant and her make up is fresh using a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation to let her skin shine through. To get Mandy’s look try Vincent Longo’s New Light Canvas Tinted Moisturizer. It gives your skin a sun-kissed glow with a hint of color.

For smudge proof perfect eyeliner try using a gel eyeliner instead of a pencil for color that stays put until you take it off. Try beth bender beauty’s Stay Put Gel Eyeliner in Onyx.

Get sweet cheeks just like Mandy’s using a rose color cream blush stick. Apply directly to the apple of cheeks and blend along cheekbones with fingertips. Try Shiseido’s Blush stick in Rouge Flush.

Finish with a sheer lip using a tinted lip balm instead of a lipstick. All the benefits of a balm for smooth beautiful lips with just the right amount of color. Try Beauty Balm in Bella from beth bender beauty.

Best Smoky Eye Kits

STILA’S TALKING SMOKY EYE PALETTE

I am a big fan of Stila and have always loved their products. There are a lot of beauty companies that have kits to help you to create perfect smoky eyes but this smoky eye kit actually gives you step by step instructions while you are doing a smoky eye. I love the colors in each of the kits and agree that it is definitely the next best thing along with the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit, especially if you don’t have the luxury of a makeup artist on hand to do it for you. This kit paired with the Get in Line Smoky eye stencils in the Travel Set and you’ll be sporting sexy smoky eyes in no time baby.

Celebrities Wearing Beth Bender Beauty

I SPY MORE BETH BENDER BEAUTY

Seen Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman at the Berlin Movie Festival for the premiere of their new movie The Other Boelyn Girl. Both looking simply beautiful and each doing their own version of a sultry smoky eye. Natalie in shades of bronze using Ginger and Ambra eye dust and Scarlett using her Get in Line Kit and adding a bit of Bellatrix and Double-O-Silver for some serious shimmer.

Jessica Simpson in Hawaii with boyfriend Tony Romo for the Pro-Bowl. Seen doing a little shopping at the Betsey Johnson Boutique in Oahu. My girl Mimi who is the manager caught her touching up her lips with a little Crush lip gloss and couldn’t resist telling her she had the same color and that she was one of my best friends since childhood. Jessica pulled out her Get in Line Eyeliner Kit and said she had used it that morning to do her eyes. Which looked perfect of course. She told Mimi that she loved our glosses and especially loved the way they tasted. They spoke for a few more minutes before she left and Mimi said she could not have been sweeter. Sweet and beautiful.

Seen Drew Barrymore and Boyfriend Justin Long at a benefit hosted by Gucci and Madonna to raise money for Malawi and Unicef. They were there to support Madonna along with lots of other celebrities. Glowing from head to toe. Our beauty spies tell us she was Seen in the ladies lounge putting on a little Mimilicious glam gloss and adding some extra sizzle to her eyes with a touch of Zsa Zsa eye dust that she applied with her fingers.

Lucy Liu also at the same event looking gorgeous with her sexy do and strapless dress. Getting her perfect pout of pinkness with Tallulah High Shine Gloss, the newest lip color from beth bender beauty. Our beauty spies watched as she did her lips while in the midst of a conversation with another guest. Now that is what I call multi tasking.

Get A Healthy Glow Instantly

Everyone knows the sun can be harmful to your skin but who can resist having that sun kissed look even in the middle of winter. To get this kind of glow without causing permanent damage to your complexion is to use a bronzer. At Fashion week in New York, Hollywood celebrities were aglow with healthy bronze cheeks.

Sheryl Crow Loves Soak Up the Sun Bronzing Powder from beth bender beauty

For a natural glow, apply bronzer to the areas of the face where the sun would naturally kiss, like the forehead, bridge of nose, cheekbones and chin. Start with a little color and add more slowly to get the desired shade and radiant look like Sheryl Crow.

If you prefer a cream try Nars Multiple in Palm Beach, $37 at Sephora.

New Help For Brows And Lashes

If you’re looking for a product that stimulates eye lash growth and eyebrows all in the same tube, then look no further. Model co’s Lash + Brow Growth Stimulator is a conditioning night time growth stimulating treatment for eyelashes and brows.

What it does is restore existing hair while enhancing new hair growth. In just 14 days this little tube promises to give you voluptuous lashes and fuller thicker brows. Their unique wonder product restores thin lashes and over plucked brows with a deep conditioning blend of vitamins and proteins that prevents damage from free radicals to the hair follicle while simultaneously working to maintain healthier hair growth.

It’s easy to use and the Lash + Brow Growth Stimulator also slows down excess hair loss for healthier, super sexy lashes and brows. It retails for $42 and is available at Sephora. Compared to Revita-Lash that will cost you anywhere from $80 to$150 is it certainly worth checking out, plus it is helping both your eyelashes and brows at the same time. I just purchased a tube on line so I will let you know the results once I receive and start using.

Stay Put Lips - Hollywood Style

RED CARPET READY LIPS

Keep your lip color looking red carpet ready for hours with these quick tips from Beth. Instead of filling your lips in with a lipstick try using a water-proof lip liner. We like Make Up Forever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencils, $16 at Sephora. For lips like Blake Lively try Red 8C a true red lip pencil.

Once you’ve finished filling your lips in give them some extra Hollywood glam with a high shine gloss. Try Reddy Freddy gloss from beth bender beauty and a favorite of Liv Tyler.

Shiseido’s Accentuating Color Sticks

Have you tried these gorgeous color sticks from Shiseido? They are genius! Dick Page used the Rouge Flush stick at the Narciso Rodriguez show in New York and the models look beautiful. The color sticks can be used to highlight the eyes, cheeks, lips and body for a brilliant luster.

They go on smoothly, adhere well to the skin, and gives a lustrous, crease- free finish that lasts. Two of the key ingredients are Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE, a lasting moisturizing factor and 3-D Powder that gives a natural depth and highlight to the facial contours.

Five shades to choose from and all are so pretty. Each tube is $32 and you can see them all at sephora.com.

When Smoky Eyes Aren’t Smoky

Smoky eyes when overdone can sometimes become overpowering as in the case of Hayden Panettiere and Sharon Stone, see here sporting smoky eyes some might call raccoon eyes.

To avoid this look make sure to only apply eyeshadow onto the eyelid and blend into the crease of eye so that the color is slightly above the crease. Do not apply a dark color into the corner of eye and high above the crease as seen here on Sharon Stone. Instead use a lighter shade and blend with the darker color for a more polished look.

Avoid heavy thick eyeliner around the entire eye. Instead line the eyes so that the outer part of the eye is thickest and becomes more tapered as you get closer to the inner corner of eye, as seen here below on Hilary Duff.

If you’re using a Gel eyeliner or pencil to line the eyes you can set the color with an eyeshadow of the same color or a lighter shade. This will also soften the line and give the eyes a more sultry look. Not sure where to place the color? Having trouble trying to get the smoky eye look? Check out Beth’s Get in Line Eyeliner & Stencil Kit designed to help create smoky eyes with ease.

Duwop's New Doubleglow7

Have you tried DuWop's new Doubleglow7? Well if you haven't you must. I had to see for myself because I'm always in search of the best products to give your skin radiance and a healthy glow. Doubleglow7 meets all of my needs and I was amazed at how great my skin looked.

doubleglow7.jpg

Doubleglow7 is a luminous face balm that gives an instant radiance and clarity to your skin. I know you're thinking face balm that sounds like it might be heavy or greasy but I can assure you it's not. If you don't believe me check it out for yourself the next time you're near a Sephora or if you happen to live in the Los Angeles area, Larchmont Beauty Supply in Larchmont carries the full line of DuWop products.

You can wear Doubleglow7 underneath your foundation or alone. It makes a great primer before applying foundation and creates the perfect canvas for a flawless application. Doubleglow7 contains seven essential skin nourishing ingredients, Jojoba, aloe vera, lilly extract, illumination pearls, as well as vitamins A, E, and F. Together they conspire to give you gorgeous, glowing skin.

At $25 a jar it's totally worth the investment. Because I don't have a lot of time during the week I bought three jars of Doubleglow7. I used it the other day on a job and ended up giving it to the model on the shoot. She could not stop talking about how beautiful her skin looked and I thought why not?

I SPY BETH BENDER BEAUTY

Rachel Bilson in Paris during fashion week. Wearing a beautiful pink dress from Chanel. This girl gets around. Once again seen sporting her perfectly lined and gorgeous eyes. Get them too, using the Get in Line eyeliner kit. Our beauty spies tell us she was seen touching up her lips with Tallulah gloss. Pink is definitely her color!

New to Beth Bender Beauty, Vanessa Williams. Vanessa grew up in the same town as us and we are so happy for her success on Ugly Betty. She is a big fan of the line and loves her Get in Line kit. She has a nice little collection of our beauty products, but her favorites are our Just Peachy Bronzer, Ambra eye dust, Liquid lip’s in Chasing the cash and Sunset, and Mimilicious glam gloss. She looked beautiful at the Golden Globes with her sexy smoky eyes and her Chasing the Cash glam gloss giving her lips lots of loving all night long.

Seen Lauren Conrad from The Hills on MTV at an L.A. Kings hockey game with friend Stephen Colletti. What’s that she was wearing on her lips? Our beauty spies tell us it was Ooh Baby Liquid lip color. A favorite of Lauren’s and no wonder, it looks great on her.

Seen again last night at the at the launch party for the Paris Hilton Collection at Las Vegas club LAX, our beauty spies found her in the ladies lounge touching up her eye liner with some Onyx Gel Liner. Her lips got lots of love and shine with Ooh Baby liquid lip color.

Sheryl Crow performing in New York at Irving Plaza. We love Sheryl and have been huge fans of hers since the very beginning. This is a gal who likes to keep her beauty routine simple and now with a new baby in her life even more so.

When Sheryl first started performing you could find her in the ladies room curling her hair and doing her own makeup. It looked as beautiful then as it does now. On hand in New York City as part of her beauty regime was her Get in Line Eyeliner & Stencil Kit, some Soak up the Sun Bronzing Powder, and her Happy Glam Gloss.

Celebrity Look Of The Week

Rachel Bilson

Beth Bender Beauty’s Look of The Week

rachel-bilson-get-the-look.jpg

Our celebrity look of the week is Rachel Bilson. Rachel’s perfectly lined eyes have become a part of her trademark look. Her features are petite and so striking. She has great style and her makeup always looks beautiful.

For defined eyes like Rachel’s start by lining them top and bottom with an eyeliner pencil first. A good one to try is Prescriptives Softening Pencil in Black. With a smudge tip brush blend the color into the lash line. Set the color with a powder shadow to prevent the color from bleeding and soften the line.

To get the powder liner perfect on both top and bottom try the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit. Place the bottom liner stencil underneath the eye and make the line as thick or as thin as you like depending on where you place it. Repeat the same on top with the top eyeliner stencil. Give your lashes at least one coat of your favorite black mascara and make sure to coat both the top and underneath of your lashes. It really makes a difference. Try Lashblast Mascara, $7.99 from CoverGirl.

Rachel’s rosy pink blush give her skin a lovely radiance. To get this look using a blush brush swirl the color on the apple of your cheeks and blend along the cheekbone. We love Bobbi Brown’s powder blush in Blushed, $20 at Bobbibrown.com. If you’re a cream blush kind of girl then try Blushing Bride, a rosy pink cream blush, $18 at beth bender beauty.

Rachel’s lip’s have a slight sheen but the look is more of a stain which could pass for her own natural lip color. Try Shy Pink Lip Stain, $20 from Laura Mercier. We love the feel of these lip stains and they look beautiful on. If you want to add a layer of shine on top of the stain try Crush Liquid Lip Color, $16 from beth bender beauty. Either way you can’t go wrong.

THE GRAMMYS

Seen…Carrie Underwood with an award winning look and another Grammy to add to her collection for “Best Female Country Performance”. Looking gorgeous in her rosy cheeks, strawberry pink lips and smoky eyes.

Our good friend and makeup artist E-jay was backstage doing touch ups and had the pleasure of touching up Miss Underwood. Using his new favorite glam gloss Tallulah from beth bender beauty and Carries too. She was wearing it when she won her Grammy. She told E-Jay she had her smoky eye stencils and eye dust in Ambra with her just in case she needed a quick touch up.

Seen…Beyonce Knowles getting some lip loving backstage with some Chasing the cash Liquid Lip Color. E-Jay was very busy that night and doing what he does best, making women look beautiful. Beyonce was one of the very first celebrities to use the Get in Line Eyeliner and Stencil Kit. Her gorgeous Cat eyes are why so many women are using the kit. Also used on Beyonce backstage was some Just Peachy Bronzer which looked absolutely gorgeous, Seen… on camera and in photographs.

Grammy winner Amy Winehouse’s famous Cat eyes made even more famous thanks to her thumbs up on the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit singing via satellite in London. Our friend Carla was on hand for powder and touch ups and left a few extra kits for Amy to have for her purse, house and on the road. She used Reddy Freddy Glam Gloss on Amy’s Lips and a touch of Onyx Gel Eyeliner to set her cat eyes before going on stage. Congratulations to Amy for winning all of those Grammy’s!! We are so happy for your success and wish you years more.

Seen…Nicole Richie, boyfriend and new daddy Joel Madden and brother Benji at The Entertainment Weekly party. Those two could pass for twins. This new mommy looked just beautiful and glowing from head to toe the way a new mother does when she is as happy as Nicole. Also in her tiny clutch, some Brown Sugar eye dust and Cocoa Gel Eyeliner.

FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK

Proenza Schouler Fall 2008

The look at Proenza Schouler was long hair and colbalt blue eyes. The ever amazing Dick Page led his team of artists who helped to create this very bold and beautiful look.

To get the look, Page first covered the lids with a shimmer cream shadow in gray, then brushed a colbalt blue shadow on top. He then surrounded the eyes with teal shadow and added a touch of silver and gold highlights under each eye.

The lips were done in a beige lip color using Shiseido Automatic Lip Crayon in LC1 and the cheeks and lashes were not touched.

Fantastic!

Beth Bender's Fashion Week Report

FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK

Doo Ri Fall 2008

GET THE LOOK: I love this look so much! Makeup Artist Jeff Roose from Nars used a sheer blue shadow on the eyes. Roose wanted the eyes to pop and pop they did. They looked colorful and fresh, without looking overdone. A great color that flatters any skin tone.

INSIDER TIP: To create the eyes yourself make sure to only apply color from the inner corner of eye to the center of the eyelid. Then finish by sweeping a soft gray shade to the outer edge of the eye as seen here on the model. Try Nars Duo Eyeshadow in Island Fever, $32 at Narscosmetics.com.

Need help with your smoky eyes? Beth suggests using the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit, or the Get in Line Travel Stencil Set . Each come with a set of stencils and step by step instructions that show you how to get a smoky eye as seen here.

Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2008 Collection

GET THE LOOK: The makeup for the show was beautiful and who better than Dick Page to create this gorgeous face. Healthy, nourished skin as seen here can take ten years from your face. Page added luminosity and a youthful sheen to the skin by patting a rosy cream stick and focusing on the cheeks. “It catches the light and adds an ephemeral transparency,” says Page.

INSIDER TIP: Page emphasized the importance of only powdering where you really need it, like your forehead and chin and suggested sweeping a translucent powder which is lighter in weight and will let the rest of your face glow.

You can purchase the color stick blush in Rouge Flush used at the show at Sephora.com.

It is a gorgeous color any time of the year.

Beth Bender's Beauty Report -Fashion Week

FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK

Tory Burch fall 2008 Collection

The make up for Tory Burch was beautiful and matched well with the clothes which were structured and very defined. Bobbi Brown and her team of artists did a beautiful job. Prominent cheekbones could be seen on every model and gorgeous eyes that put the smoke in smoky.

Insider Trick: To create the illusion of prominent cheekbones Bobbi swirled a mauve blush onto the apples of cheeks and then patted a lip balm high up on the cheekbones to catch the light. For those who prefer something a little less sticky try a cream shimmer and apply to the same part of cheekbones.

Bobbi's artist's did a great job creating beautiful smoky eyes on each model. To do it yourself and have gorgeous eyes just like them try the Get in Line Eyeliner kit from Beth Bender.

Beth Bender's Fashion Week Review

FASHION WEEK IN NEW YORK

Miss Sixty 2008

I am crazy about Miss Sixty and love this very mod and very 70’s- influenced look that was created for their show at fashion week in New York. Neil Moodie of Bumble & Bumble created the hair and Gucci Westman who was working with MAC created the make up. Gucci Westman is an amazing artist whose work can be seen in many beauty magazines.

Her inspiration for the look was a cross between Joan Jett and bohemian with a little bit of Endora. Rich Blue eyeshadow was the theme for the eyes, while everything else was much softer.

Defined brows and a soft peach lip color with a touch of clear gloss for added shine completed this very beautiful look.

Event At Lebec Beauty Boutique

Yesterday’s Valentine’s event at Lebec Beauty Boutique was a great success. Located in Rancho Cucamonga, California and the perfect setting for our first event together. From the minute we began Lebec and I were busy doing makeup. I was doing demo’s of the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit and Lebec was creating beautiful faces on every woman who sat in her chair.

Her beauty boutique is filled with amazing product from custom blended powders and foundations, to gorgeous eye shadows, liners, glosses, brushes, brush sets and pouches and so much more! Women were leaving with lots of goodies and when the event was near ending most of them were still there.
Women of all ages waited to try the Get in Line Eyeliner Kit and were very pleased when they saw how easy it was to create perfect smoky eyes and cat eyes in minutes. I would do one eye and then have them do the other. The kit is exclusive to her boutique and is available in the kit or Travel Set.
Lebec and I had so much fun doing this event together that we’ve decided to do it again in a few months. As soon as we have a date we will each post it on our beauty blogs.

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!

CELEBRITY BEAUTY - THE SAG AWARDS

BEAUTY WATCH – THE SAG AWARDS

AMANDA BYNES

Amanda Bynes has really grown up and I just loved her whole look from top to bottom. Her hair, flawless make up and gorgeous gown from Marchesa. Her eyes looked beautiful and very striking. My kind of look.

To capture Amanda’s gorgeous make up start with the eyes first. Focusing on the outer corner as seen here. Using a coffee shimmer shadow, try Ambra Eyeshadow $16 from Beth Bender. Apply color from the center of eye and extend out making slightly heavier at the ends. Take the same color and sweep under the eyes as seen here.

With a lighter shimmer shadow and clean brush apply color from the inner corner of the eye to the center of eye and blend well. I like Bobbi Browns Champagne Shimmer Shadow. It goes on like butter and blends easily. Take the same Champagne color and apply to the bottom corner of inner eye and brow bone to give the eyes a polished look.

For eyes that look even more dramatic line as close to the lash line with a black gel eyeliner. It will make you lashes look even thicker and give the eyes a super sultry look. I like Onyx Gel Liner from beth bender beauty. Plus it’s water resistant, smudge-proof, and stays put all night long.

For the face keep the skin sheer and light with color. Use a tinted moisturizer to give the skin an instant glow. Try Stila’s Illuminating Tint Moisturizer, $28 at Sephora. Add a touch of powder blush in Desert Rose, $20 from Bobbi Brown. This color is gorgeous, looks great on gals with fair skin or olive undertones and stays put for hours.

Finish with a pink lip gloss and you’ll be ready to walk the red carpet. May we suggest Tallulah from Beth Bender Beauty. Our newest High Shine glam gloss for the spring and my new favorite too.

CELEBRITY BEAUTY - THE SAG AWARDS

BEAUTY WATCH – THE SAG AWARDS

GREY’S ANATOMY ELLEN POMPEO

Also on the red carpet strutting her stuff was Ellen Pompeo looking absolutely stunning in a Nina Ricci Gown. Her makeup and hair complimented this strapless gown and as always her brows looked perfect. Ellen’s eyes were smoky but done in champagne and amber tones which gave them a much more sultry look.

To get Ellen’s look start by grooming your brows first and then working you way down and finishing with the lips. I love Anastasia’s eyebrow stencils and stencil kit. They are so easy to use and come with step by step directions so you can’t go wrong.

Once you have decided on the perfect template that suits you brow shape fill in with a brow color and remove any hairs that fall outside of the shape. If you prefer a stronger brow you can add more color with the stencil still over the eyebrow.

Next we move to the eyes. Choose something with a shimmer as seen here on Ellen. I mixed two colors using Ambra Eye Dust and a bit of Ginger. I like to use my fingers first to apply color to the eyelid and then go back and blend with an eyeshadow brush. Especially if the lid is slightly shiny the color grabs and helps with placement. If you have questions about where to place the color you can use the Get in Line Smoky Eye Kit to help with this. Using a tapered eyeliner brush sweep some Ambra Eye Dust under the eye as seen here on Ellen.

To ensure that your eyeliner will stay put I suggest using a Gel Eyeliner instead of a liquid or powder. They are water and smudge resistant and once they dry they don’t move. Try Onyx Gel Liner, $18 from beth bender beauty. Make sure to get as close to the lash line a possible when applying the gel liner. You can tap some color in between your bottom lashes too but keep it on the softer side.

For fabulous red carpet lashes all night long try Shu Uemura’s Basic Black Mascara, $27 at sephora.com It’s a gel base formula that keeps the lashes from smudging and can be re-applied without clumping.

For the face I like Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Sticks, $40 at bobbibrown.com. They’re perfect for evening out the complexion without feeling too heavy. Plus you decide how much and where. I don’t recommend them for someone whose skin is extremely oily, instead an oil free liquid foundation would work best.

On the cheeks try try Cheek Duo in Pink Glow, $24 from Stila. It adds a delicate flush as seen here on Ellen. Finish with a sheer coral or warm peach lip shade that will balance your beautiful smoky eyes. Try Olympia Rose a nude-peach lip color, $26 from Vincent Longo. I used this color on a shoot last week and fell in love with it!!

Stay tuned for more celebrity looks from the SAG Awards and fashion week in NYC. The hottest runway looks and how to get them.
